Information about Momchilovtsi Village and the surrounding area:


Momchilovtsi village All three of the properties offered are only a few minutes walk from the shops, Post Office, Restaurants and amenities. The houses are accessed by an asphalt roads with parking facilities and supplied with electricity and running water.

Although classified as a village, Momchilovtsi is relatively large compared to other villages in the Rhodopes, with approximately 3,000 inhabitants and 550+ houses. 

The houses and properties in the village are built within an “amphitheatre" shape with hills and forest on 3 sides with the village cradled in the centre. 

In the 2000s Momchilovtsi established itself as a centre of tourism, with snowboarding, village tourism, small family hotels and sports facilities.

Located in the heart of the Central Rhodope Mountains, at an altitude of 1,200 m, Momchilovtsi lies 240 km from Sofia, 100 km from Plovdiv and 12 km from the nearest town of Smolyan. 

It is also 16km eastwards from the ski resorts of Pamporovo and Chepelare. Pamporovo is also known to be the sunniest ski resort in Bulgaria and possibly Europe because of its location near to the Greek border. 

The surrounding area boasts a favourable geographic location and sufficient natural factors to make it an ideal location to live in and a popular holiday target: good transport access, mountain climate with a marked Mediterranean influence, clear steams abounding in Balkan trout, a wealth of wild fruit, herbs and mushrooms, rich and varied fauna, protected natural phenomena and wildlife reserves.

Momchilovtsi has a good infrastructure with good access from the main Plovdiv to Smolyan road. It is 15 min. drive from the Pamporovo Ski Resort and 20 minutes from the nearest Town of Smolyan

The road access to/from Momchilovtsi is already very good and its location benefits from the international road which passes the village by 3 km giving greater access to Greece from Momchilovtsi and Bulgaria. The first of the two border crossing at Zlatograd is already open. The journey from Momchilovtsi to Mediterranean Sea takes about 2 hours.

The second border crossing at Rudozem will be opening at in 2012. With this new road and the new projects the area will have many more summer and winter sporting and leisure activities and places of interest to visit.

Also, now that Ryanair are flying into Plovid airport the transfer time from airport to the village will be approximately 2 hours

Latest news: Ryanair now has flights into Plovdiv International Airport reducing the transfer time by half to approx 1.5 hours

With this new road and the new projects the area will have many summer and winter activities.
